The transmission was used for a couple of years, General Motors (GM) paired the Allison 1000 transmission with its 6.6 L Duramax in 2001. One of the most reliable automatic transmissions, the Allison 1000 transmission, was placed in a wide variety of vehicles during the next few years because of its reliability and advanced technology along with its heavy duty capabilities.
