About Our Remanufactured MTX75 Transmission
Are you looking for a MTX75 Transmission that's affordable yet in pristine condition? Would you like to save money by buying a used transmission but are concerned about warranty coverage if something goes wrong? If so, Reman-Transmission has you covered. Our team specializes in selling top-quality remanufactured transmissions designed to meet your needs and budget, and we take measures to guarantee each of our products is top-tier quality.
Most transmission rebuilding companies only fix broken parts of a used transmission before reselling them. While these transmissions for sale are in good shape, they may not last long because older components that are still working well are left in the device. These wear out faster than new components, leading to uneven wear and tear on your transmission. This leads to increased shop time for your vehicle as you'll need to have transmission parts replaced after a short period of time.
While we also sell used transmissions, our remanufactured transmissions undergo extensive work before we put them up for sale. These transmissions have had every single part replaced with either new or re-machined parts to ensure the end product meets or even exceeds the original manufacturer's specifications. What's more, any original transmission models with known defects are fully repaired during the remanufacturing process. This means that you're getting an even better transmission than you would have had you purchased the product brand new.
All transmissions are visually inspected after the remanufacturing process is complete. This ensures that there are no mistakes or defects. What's more, we back up each of our products with a warranty. The warranty on the remanufactured MTX75 transmission for sale covers use up to 36 months and there is an unlimited mileage warranty. Alternatively, you can purchase a used MTX75 transmission from us with a warranty of up to six months or 6,000 miles. The cost of shipping a used or remanufactured MTX75 transmission is $398.
MTX75 Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Horsepower Rating of the MTX-75?
According to various drivers, the MTX-75 horsepower rating ranges between 250 and 295 HP. However, it’s important to bear in mind that the strength of a transmission is generally rated in torque, not horsepower. The torque level of an MTX-75 transmission is well over 300 ft-lbs.
What Kind of Transmission Fluid and How Much Fluid Does an MTX-75 Take?
MTX-75 transmissions need a 75W90 lubricant. Options include Ford's Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid, Granville MT75, and Amsoil's Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90. The amount of fluid the transmission takes varies depending on the vehicle model. Consult the owner's manual before adding transmission fluid to your transmission.
What Cars Use an MTX75 Transmission?
Cars that use the MTX-75 transmission include the Ford Escort Mk V (only the XR31 model), Ford Mondeo models and their derivatives, the Ford Focus (with a 2-liter Zetec engine or 2.3-liter Duratec engine), Ford Focus with a diesel engine, and Jaguar X-Type cars with a 2.5 or 3.0 V6 engine.
How Long Will an MTX75 Transmission Last?
Drivers note that a car with an MTX75 transmission gets between 235 and 250 miles before transmission replacement is necessary. Our MTX75 transmission models are even better than new ones because manufacturer defects are fixed, and all components are re-machined before sale.
MTX75 History & Information
MTX stands for Manual Transaxle. The number 75 was included as part of the name as this is the distance (in millimeters) between the main and lay shafts. The MTX75 transmission should not be confused with Ford's earlier MTX transmission models MTX I, MTX II, MTX III, MTX IV, and MTX V. These earlier models were originally built from 1981 to 1994. The earlier models were also made for manual vehicles but were designed for earlier Ford models and have different specs than the MTX75 transmission.
The Ford Motor Company originally built the Ford MTX75 transmission, also known as the Ford MTX-75, in 1992. It is a five-speed transmission that was originally designed for Ford front-wheel drive vehicles with large engines. These models include the Mondeo, Ford Contour, Mercury Mystique, and New Edge Mercury/Ford Cougar. At the same time, the Ford MTX75 transmission has also been used in Ford's Escort Mk V. The MTX-75 transmission is used in manual gas-powered and diesel-powered vehicles.
The MTX75 has an optimized transmission that can transfer larger torque levels than the older iB transmissions used in older Ford models. It has an equal-length driveshaft to prevent torque steer. It also has synchromesh on reverse gear. In 1996, Ford changed the transmission's cable operation because drivers complained that the original rod-based linkage system found in the original Ford MTX-75 felt notchy and vague. The MTX75 transmission also has an open differential, which an individual can replace with a plated or ATB differential if the transmission is used in a motorsport vehicle.
The MTX75 transmission was used in Ford vehicle models listed above up until about 2015. Subsequent Ford Mondeo models used the Getrag MMT6 up until 2018. Later Ford Focus models used the Getrag iB6.
